VILLAGE DIARY

There are many events happening in Standlake but, unfortunately, clashes happen because one organisation or group is not aware of what others are doing. Furthermore, advertising of events is difficult in a village as dispersed as Standlake and Brighthampton.

A diary on the website would be an ideal point of contact, but the success of such a scheme would depend entirely on the supply of current information by group organisers, secretaries etc. If you are an organiser, or just a member of a group please consider this and contact clerk@standlakepc.org.uk

St Giles' Church publishes its events in a link to Social Events/Fund Raising/Appeal Fund on its site www.acny.org.uk/6003 - (or click on the Church icon to the left).   When other organisations are holding events it would be very helpful if they could look at the Church site to make sure they are not going to clash

NEW UPDATE 19th July 2008
Newbridge and the A415

The OCC Newbridge Project Committee has completed preliminary studies. These reports can be found at www.oxfordshirehighways.org/newbridge

The Parish Council will be meeting with OCC to discuss these reports at a date to be decided - probably not until September because of holiday commitments - and this will be followed by a public presentation of the proposals. If you wish to comment on the contents of the above reports please e mail clerk@standlakepc.org.uk using 'Newbridge Comments' in the subject line. Receipt will be acknowledged and comments collated to form part of our response.

HGV Monitoring
As of 10th July, 40 drivers have been prosecuted, another 23 cases are being investigated, 5 have received warning letters and 17 have received verbal warnings after being 'turned around' while attempting to cross the bridge. Trading Standards are to be congratulated for diligently pursuing violators.
It is vital to report any HGV violators as detailed below. The Parish Council is awaiting a decision by OCC on the possible deployment of monitoring cameras on the bridge.

Vehicle must be observed between the Weak Bridge 18 tonne MGW signs either side of the bridge
Report must be made on 'Neighbourhood Weight Watch Incident Report' (click for PDF file) and sent to tradingstandards@oxfordshire.gov.uk
Person reporting must be prepared to make a witness statement and appear in court if necessary
No other reports are valid and all the ones concerned residents have submitted in the past are null and void. It begs the question - why was this not made clear at the outset?
Trading Standards report that they have 10 prosecutions pending for Banbury Court on 10th March and a further 27 being processed
